November Minutes


Call to order:
Meeting called to order by Bridget Frament at 6:35pm
Prayer:
Mrs Rushkoski began with a reminder of our most recent Holy days, the Feast of All Saints and All Souls.  Because November is a reminder of those departed, many in the room expressed a remembrance of their loved ones.  Hail Holy Queen was prayed.

Principal’s Report:
Mrs. Rushkoski reported on “No School” Days as a reminder.  Days off included Friday November 11 for Veteran’s Day and Wednesday November 16 for Superintendant’s Day.  Thanksgiving break would be Thursday November 23rd and Friday November 24th.  Half Days were Monday November 21 and Tuesday November 22 for Parent Teacher Conferences.  Wednesday November 23rd was also a half day with a Thanksgiving Mass at 11:00am. 
Student’s are encouraged to bring in Donations for the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry
Parent Teacher Conferences needed to be scheduled if you haven't done so contact the teachers.  Report Cards will be handed out at the Conferences to the parents.
Picture Make-up date is Tuesday November 22nd in the Morning.  Children should be in their dress uniforms for the pictures.
Hot Lunch reimbursement is possible for the missed lunch on the evacuation from the power outage.  A coupon or memo will be sent to those who paid for that day, but their child missed the lunch.
Christmas Concert is TBD.  Mrs. Rushkoski is waiting on Michael Musial to get back to her about dates at Russell Sage that don’t interfere with current scheduling. 
Dismissal concerns were discussed amongst the group attending with Mrs. Rushkoski.  Many ideas and proposals have been arranged to keep dismissal as safe and fast as possible.  But with the growth of the school concerns of safety are the utmost importance.

Secretary’s Report:
PTO By-Laws Article One could not be read by newly appointed Secretary Amanda DeSalvatore because the copy had been misplaced.  Mrs. Rushkoski paraphrased the Article One.
There were no correspondence or Thank You’s to report

Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Mary Ellen Belbusti was not in attendance, so Co-President Bridget Frament reported that the Magazine Fundraiser has brought in $10000.  Motion to accept by______________and seconded by____________________

PTO Business:
SMS Apparel Store:  Open until 11/11.  These Orders should arrive by December 5th.
A parent asked about the long-sleeved shirt being an option for gym.  Mrs. Rushkoksi would “rather not go there”.  Gym uniforms have already been determined. 
Delivery for past orders will be announced soon as will pickup location. 
Wreath Sale send order forms in C/O Liam Frament
These wreaths sell out so order ASAP
Volunteers will be needed for pickup date an email will be sent out.


 PTO Business Cont.:
Yankee Candle Sale.  A date for pickup is TBD.  We are trying to Coordinate the pickup with the Wreath Sale Pickup.
Uniform Swap.  A date is TBD.  It will be held downstairs at the hall.
Waterford Holiday Parade.  Saturday 11/26 @6:00pm.  Line up will be at 5:30pm on 7th Street near Brendese Funeral Home, Please contact Kevin Galuski for any questions at kjgaluski@gmail.com or 330-8041.
PARP for November.  Sheets should have gone home with the students announcing PARP or Parents As Reading Partners.  If the students complete their daily reading sheets (20 out of 30 days) for November and March, then Scholastic will give them free books.  Please contact Mrs. Victoria Donnelly (K-2)donnellyv@smswaterford.org
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Catholic School’s Week Breakfast. We need a parent volunteer to chair this year’s breakfast event for January please contact one of the PTO officers.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon scheduled for May is in need of Volunteers.  Please contact Kristy Jarosz.
Mother/Son Event scheduled for May.  The Chair of this event is looking for someone to “Co-chair” and learn so she may “pass the torch”.  Please contact the PTO if you are interested.
Store for St. Mary’s needs a Chairperson
Weekend Lunch Prep and Lunch Volunteers are still needed.  Call Mrs. Jah for daytime help.
Free Fundraisers: 
Box Tops for Education. If you download the box tops App you can scan your box tops purchase and earn $.20 on the participating products.  The box top can still be clipped and sent into school earning a total of $.30 for each box top.  This adds up quickly when everyone participates.  Ask friends, neighbors and relatives to help save the box tops.  The eighth grade class is helping organize the box tops to be sent in.  Please make sure all box tops that are sent in have not expired. Also, if you have a lot to send in please spend the time marked bags of 50.  It will save a lot of time.

Banner Winner:
Mrs. Norton (2nd Grade-1)  She will receive a $25.00 Voucher from the PTO for classroom supplies/activities
