March Minutes

Call to order:
Meeting called to order by Bridget Frament at 6:35pm. 
Prayer:
Mrs Rushkoski began with thanks for attendance and prayer.  The prayer was “Prayer for a Lenten Spirit.
Principal’s Report:
DISTRICTS with NO BUSSING Mrs. Rushkoski Continued with an announcement of “NO Bussing” days of various school districts because of area school’s Superintendant’s Days. There will be No Bussing on these dates for the following school districts:  3/13 Mechanicville, 3/15 Waterford, 3/17 Hoosic Valley, 3/24 Shen and Troy.  Parents need to check with their school districts and make arrangements for transportation.
NO SCHOOL—Monday, March 20, for a Staff Development day; Our Superintendant’s Conference.
NYS Testing (3/28-3/20 and 5/2-5/4)  3rd, 5th and 7th grades will have their NYS Testing.  Appointments cause problems, so please keep that in mind when scheduling, reschedule appointments (dr.s, Dentist etc) if possible.
LEARNING FAIR April 6, 2017 Info should be coming home with teachers soon.
SPRING CONCERT will be held on May 4, at NYSTI.
BEACON OF HOPE GALA:  22 schools are supported and the Ball is held on 5/25 at the Albany City Center on Eagle Str.  You can still purchase tickets.  The Community Spirit Award will be going to Bridget Frament.  Congrats Bridget!
*about winter clothing.  All younger grades have to be adequately dressed because when they go out (temps above 20 degrees) they cannot keep themselves out of the snow.  Adequate winter attire is snow pants (which can be left in the classroom for winter), gloves, hats and winter jackets.  Middle schoolers have a bit more freedom.

 PTO Business:
Candy Sale-  set for a March timeframe.  Jamie R. is chairing.  We will be selling World’s Finest Chocolates.  Take a box sell it return $60 we get 50%.  Easy fundraiser if you can sell more take more boxes.  It hasn’t been decided if there will be a prize for the highest seller or a Highest sales in classroom.
Scholastic Book Fair.  Victoria D. and Jen G. are Co-Chairing.  It is  the Same night as the Learning Fair on April 6.  Volunteers are needed.  Easy to setup.  Melissa F. will contact some parents.  Helen offered to help at the meeting.
Tai Kwon Do is hosted by Pai’s Tai Kwon Do.  5 Thursdays  March 16th, 23rd, 30th, April 6th and 13th after school from 3pm-4pm.  It is for Grades K-4th and is $25 per student.  All proceeds go back to the school. Any aftercare students will be brought back from the Hall to the school by an adult. 
Kristy asked:  Can there be a family discount?  Jen answered: probably yes.
Melissa stated:  There is an issue with repeated scheduling conflicts.  Kristy answered: There is a new person at the rectory to contact for scheduling something in the Hall.  Mrs. R informed the group:  That anything that needs to be schedule must be coordinated through the rectory because the Hall/gym is the Church’s builing.
Guptill’s Fundraiser is set for Saturday March 25, 2017 from 6:30pm-10:30pm and it includes Secrets.  Skates can be rented for $5 or you can bring your own.  Vouchers will need to be purchased through the school to get in for the $5.  You cannot get this deal at Guptills you must contact Jen. We keep the entire amount as a fundraiser with no limits on vouchers. Guptill’s only does this fundraiser for Schools that have had a good reputation in the past...let’s keep that in mind when we enjoy the night.

Flower Sale West Shaker Shed Fundraiser is a voucher based fundraisers but a we will be selling flowers near Mother’s Day (date picked 5/13, but other dates may also work like Thursday 5/11) .Vouchers are purchased and then the vouchers can be brought to the flower shed to purchase flowers.  Our sale at the school will be Cash and Carry.This gives a choice to the purchaser.  We receive 50% from the sales. 
The shed is located near CBA in Colonie
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon is1:30 on May 5th which is May Crowning, followed by Noon dismissal.  Kristy J. is the Chair and will setup the day before. Volunteers are needed for setup, and clean up after the luncheon.

Nominations for PTO Officers 2017-2018 under Article iV Part b was read by Bridget.  March and April Meetings are for nominations.  Floor nominations may be presented on the night of the vote.  The nominating committee are Helen C. and Carrie D. who were both in attendance.  Nomination forms will be available online.  You can send them in  to 6th Grade C/O Grace or Caroline.

February Minutes

Call to order:
Meeting called to order by Bridget Frament at 6:33pm.  This meeting was a reschedule from the previous week when a snowstorm caused the school to be closed.
Prayer:
Mrs Rushkoski began with thanks for attendance and prayer.  Prayer intention was for Rich Galooley a CCHS teacher that had passed recently.  Mr. Galooley left behind two young children and a wife with the sudden passing.  Mrs. R. wanted us to call to mind all those we have lost.  Hail Holy Queen was prayed. Attendance was more than 13 people. 

Principal’s Report:
Mrs. Rushkoski began with a discussion about winter clothing.  All younger grades have to be adequately dressed because when they go out (temps above 20 degrees) they cannot keep themselves out of the snow.  Adequate winter attire is snowpants(which can be left in the classroom for winter), gloves, hats and winter jackets.  Middle schoolers have a bit more freedom.
Open Registration for new families begins on March 2, 2017 from 1:30-5:30.  Pre-K and K can close out quickly and have in the past so it is very important for current families to register ASAP.  Be advised that all school districts need their transportation forms turned into the school district you live in by April 1.  The financial aid deadline through FACTS is April 15 as well as the Beacon of Hope paperwork.  Please return the Beacon of Hope paperwork in by April 1 if possible because every candidate must have a reference letter from the principal and Mrs. Rushkowski needs the time to prepare the letter for each candidate.
Lenten devotions begin the week we come back from vacation.  Ash Wednesday with distribution of Ashes is March 1, at 1:30pm at St. Mary’s Church.  First Friday is March 3, is at 10:45 (a change to accommodate the Noon Mass for Lent).  Starting on March 16 and again on March 30 the kids will go over to church for Stations at 1:30.

Spring Concert will be held on May 4, at NYSTI.

PTO Business:
Father Daughter Dance on Saturday, Feb. 4 was well attended and really impressive.  Bridget said it was “really beautiful” and a Kevin said “Best one I’ve seen”.  Thank you to Jillian and Kelly for chairing the event and for everyone who had a hand in helping.
Candy Sale-  set for a March timeframe.  Jamie R. is chairing.  It isn’t decided yet if it will be a Hershey product or World Famous.
Tai Kwon Do is set for April 6th and 13th hosted by Pai’s Tai Kwon Do.  For now there are only two dates set and they will be after school
Guptill’s Fundraiser is set for Friday, March 6 and it includes Secrets.  Skates can be rented for $5 or you can bring your own. 
Mother Son Event  Irene is chairing it but needs a co-chair to “pass the torch”  Lot’s of ideas were thrown around like Cicotti Center, Dave and Busters, Sportsplex, Bowling and Hayners.  Someone at the meeting suggested something in the hall like a volleyball game (tournament) and food provided...maybe to finish with a movie.
Yearbooks are $23 and are orders are due March 3.  They can be purchased through the office or online at YBPay.lifetouch.com with Yearbook ID Code: 4530617 .
Mrs. Delsignore asked:  Do permission sheets applied to yearbook photos?
Mrs. R answered: No, because it is a private publication.
